Allstate Denied My Water Damage Claim. I Proved Them Wrong.

A pipe burst in my basement and caused $10,000 in damage. Allstate denied my claim, saying the damage was due to lack of maintenance. They claimed I should have known the pipe was old and should have replaced it.

I hired a public adjuster. He reviewed my policy and found that the exclusion Allstate cited did not apply. The pipe burst was sudden and accidental, not gradual deterioration. The public adjuster wrote a formal appeal to Allstate.

I also sent a certified letter to Allstate's legal department asking for the specific policy language that excluded my claim. Allstate could not produce it. They reversed their decision and paid the full claim minus my deductible.

Insurance companies deny claims hoping you will give up. A public adjuster cost me $500 but got me $9,500. Worth every penny.
