Amazon A-to-Z Guarantee: How I Used It to Get a $500 Refund

Amazon's A-to-Z Guarantee is one of the most powerful consumer tools nobody uses. I used it to get a $500 refund from a third-party seller.

I bought a "Like New" camera lens from a third-party seller for $500. What arrived was a scratched lens with dust inside, a broken lens cap, and no packaging. Thrown in a plastic bag with bubble wrap.

I contacted the seller with photos. They offered a $50 partial refund. I declined. The seller stopped responding.

I opened an A-to-Z Guarantee claim. I went to Your Orders > Problem with Order > Request a Refund. I selected "Item not as described" and uploaded eight photos plus screenshots of the listing and the seller's $50 offer.

Amazon gave the seller 72 hours to respond. They did not. Amazon reviewed my claim and approved the full refund within 24 hours. $500 back on my card within a week.

The A-to-Z Guarantee is for third-party purchases. The key to winning is clear evidence that the item was not as described. Always contact the seller first and wait at least 48 hours before opening a claim.

I have recommended this to four friends. Three got their money back.
