Comcast Raised My Bill by $40 After the Promo Period. I Called and Got It Back Down.

My Comcast internet bill went from $49.99 to $89.99 after the 12-month promotional period ended. No warning, no notification. Just a sudden jump. I was furious.

I called Comcast customer retention. That is the key: do not call general customer service. Ask for customer retention. They have the authority to offer promotional pricing.

The retention agent offered me $69.99 per month for another 12 months. I said that was still too high. I told him AT&T fiber was available in my area for $55. He checked my address and saw that AT&T was indeed available. He came back with $49.99 for 24 months. I accepted.

The whole call took 15 minutes. I saved $40 per month for 24 months, which is $960.

Comcast's pricing is entirely negotiable if you are willing to call and threaten to leave. The retention team has much better offers than what is advertised. I do this every year now. It is annoying but worth the savings.
