Grubhub Delivered to the Wrong Address and Blamed Me. I Got My Money Back.
Grubhub delivered my $55 sushi order to the wrong address. The driver sent me a photo of the delivery at someone else's door. I checked the address in the app. It was correct. The driver had made a mistake.
I contacted Grubhub support. The agent said the GPS showed the delivery was at my address. I pointed out that the photo clearly showed a different door and different house number. The agent said they would investigate.
Three days later, Grubhub said they could not determine what happened and would not refund me. I disputed the charge with my credit card. Citibank credited me the $55 within a week while they investigated.
Grubhub's driver tracking system is not accurate enough to resolve disputes. If the photo evidence contradicts the GPS, the photo should win. But Grubhub sided with their driver.
For food delivery disputes, your credit card chargeback is often the most reliable solution. Grubhub will ban your account if you file a chargeback, so consider whether you want to use them again.
