Bank Dispute Letter Template That Reversed $3,000 in Fraudulent Charges
Banks require written disputes for certain types of claims. Here is the template that recovered $3,000 in fraudulent charges for my elderly father. "[Date]. [Bank Name] Fraud Department. [Account Number]. I am writing to dispute the following unauthorized electronic funds transfer(s) under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act (15 USC 1693) and Regulation E (12 CFR 1005). On [Date], a transfer of $[Amount] was made from my account to [Merchant/Vendor Name]. I did not authorize this transfer. I first discovered this error on [Date] when I reviewed my statement. I have attached a copy of the statement showing the transaction. I request that you investigate this error and credit my account for the amount of the unauthorized transfer, plus any fees incurred. Sincerely, [Your Name]." This formal letter meets the legal requirements for bank disputes and forces the bank to investigate.
