How to Write a GoFundMe Refund Request for a Fraudulent Campaign
GoFundMe has a donor protection program that covers fraudulent campaigns. I donated to a campaign that turned out to be fake. Here is the email I sent: Subject: Donor Protection Claim - Campaign [Name]. Body: I made a donation of $[Amount] to the above campaign on [Date]. I now have reason to believe this campaign was fraudulent. [Provide evidence: news articles, campaign removed by GoFundMe, etc.]. I am requesting a refund under GoFundMe's Donor Protection Program. I have attached evidence supporting my claim. GoFundMe reviewed my claim and refunded my donation within a week. They also removed the campaign. The Donor Protection Program covers cases where the campaign was fraudulent or the funds were misused. It does not cover cases where the campaign simply failed to achieve its goal. Honest campaigns that fall short are not covered.
