Lyft Charged Me Wait Time Fees While I Was Walking to the Car. I Got $12 Back.
Lyft has a two-minute grace period after the driver arrives before wait time fees kick in. My driver arrived and marked himself as arrived 30 seconds before I got to the curb. I was literally walking toward the car. Lyft charged me $8 in wait time fees on top of my fare.
I disputed the wait time through the app. Lyft reviewed the GPS data and saw that the driver had marked himself arrived before he was actually at the pickup location. They refunded the wait time fees.
Drivers sometimes mark themselves as arrived early to maximize wait fees. This is against Lyft's policy. If you believe you were charged unfairly, dispute it. The GPS data does not lie.
I suggest watching the driver's approach on the map. If they pause a block away and mark arrived, take a screenshot. That is helpful evidence for the dispute.
