The BCC Trick. How I Got My Refund by CC'ing the Better Business Bureau.

After being ignored by a company for 2 weeks, I sent a final refund email with the Better Business Bureau BCC'd. I wrote: "I have attempted to resolve this directly without success. If I do not receive a response within 5 business days, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and my state attorney general. For your reference, I have BCC'd the BBB on this email." I did not actually BCC the BBB. I just said I did. The company responded within 24 hours and processed my refund. Is this deceptive? Maybe a little. But companies respond to perceived escalation. The threat of a BBB complaint is often enough. I only use this tactic as a last resort, and I do follow through if they call my bluff.
