Why Every Refund Email Needs a Deadline. My Approval Rate Doubled.

I started adding a deadline to my refund emails. Example: "If I do not receive a refund by [Date + 14 days], I will file a dispute with my credit card company." My approval rate went from 55% to about 80%. Why? Deadlines create urgency. Without a deadline, your email goes into the queue with no priority. With a deadline, the agent knows they need to act before the date. The deadline also signals that you are willing to escalate. Companies prefer to resolve issues themselves rather than deal with chargebacks. But do not set an unreasonable deadline. 14 days is reasonable. 24 hours is not. A reasonable deadline shows you are serious but fair. An unreasonable deadline makes you look unreasonable and reduces your chances of getting what you want.
