Google Play Refund Email That Worked After 3 Weeks. The Magic Words Inside.
Google Play's 48-hour window had passed. I was 3 weeks past purchase. This email got me my $30 back anyway.
Subject: Manual Refund Request - Defective App Purchase
Body: Hello Google Play Support, I am requesting a manual refund for [App Name] purchased on [Date]. While I am outside the automatic 48-hour refund window, this app is defective and does not function as advertised. [Describe the specific issue]. Under Google's Developer Distribution Agreement, apps must accurately represent their functionality. I have attached evidence of the issue. I request that you process a manual refund or escalate this to your specialist team. Thank you.
Google's automated system rejected my request instantly. The manual email went to a human who had the authority to make exceptions. Mentioning the Developer Distribution Agreement signaled that I knew their policies, which made them take me more seriously.
