CFPB Complaint Got Me $3,000 From a Bank That Ignored Me for Months.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau handles complaints about banks and financial institutions. A CFPB complaint got me $3,000 from a bank that had ignored my fraud claim for 3 months. The process: go to consumerfinance.gov/complaint. Select the product (bank account, credit card, etc.). Describe your issue. Attach evidence. The CFPB forwards your complaint to the bank and gives them 15 days to respond. Banks take CFPB complaints very seriously because the CFPB can fine them for violations. My bank responded within a week of receiving the CFPB complaint. They not only refunded the $3,000 but also added $100 in interest for the delay. The CFPB is the most effective government agency for consumer financial disputes. If your bank, credit card company, or lender is ignoring you, file a CFPB complaint.
