Target Wouldn't Price Match After I Bought. I Got $45 Back by Being Persistent.

I bought a robot vacuum from Target for $350. A week later, it went on sale for $299. Target's price match policy says they will match prices within 14 days of purchase. But the agent said the sale was a "special promotion" and not eligible for price matching.

I asked to see that exclusion in writing. The agent could not produce it. I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor also said the promotion was excluded. I pointed out that the Target website showed the item at $299 with no mention of any exclusion.

I filed a complaint with Target's corporate customer service. I included a screenshot of the item page showing the current price of $299. Two days later, Target credited me $51 the difference plus tax.

Target's price match policy is clear on their website but their store-level agents sometimes make up exclusions. If you push to corporate, you will get the right answer.

Always check prices after you buy. I use a browser extension that tracks prices. It has saved me over $200 in the past year across multiple stores.
