Uber Eats Delivered Cold Food and Took 30 Minutes Extra. I Got $30 Back.

My Uber Eats order arrived 30 minutes late and the food was cold. I contacted Uber Eats support. They offered a $3 credit. I said that was insulting. The agent increased it to $5. I asked for a supervisor.

The supervisor reviewed the delivery time and the driver's route. The driver had taken a detour that added 15 minutes. She agreed that was unreasonable and issued a $15 credit plus a refund of the delivery fee. Total compensation: about $30.

Uber Eats' compensation is proportional to the issue. A few minutes late gets a small credit. Significant delays or cold food gets more. But you have to push past the first offer. The first offer from their chatbot is always the minimum.

I have started using the option to mark my order as "not received" or "item issue" in the app. This triggers a different support flow with higher compensation limits.
