The Venmo Dispute Email Template for Unauthorized Payments

Venmo's purchase protection is limited. But for unauthorized payments, you have rights. Here is the email I used to get $200 back. Subject: Unauthorized Payment - Urgent - Account [Username]. Body: I am reporting an unauthorized payment of $[Amount] to [Recipient] on [Date]. I did not authorize this transaction. My account was accessed without my permission. I have already changed my password and enabled two-factor authentication. Please investigate and reverse this transaction under Venmo's Unauthorized Transaction Policy. I have attached my bank statement showing the charge. Thank you. Venmo processed the refund within 3 days. The key is using the word "unauthorized" specifically. Venmo's system flags this for security team review. Payments labeled as "unauthorized" have a higher chance of refund than those labeled as "scam" or "mistake."
