I Formatted My Refund Email as a Legal Summons. They Refunded Immediately.
Subject: FORMAL NOTICE OF REFUND DEMAND - Case No. [Date]. Body: IN THE MATTER OF [Customer] vs. [Company]. TO: [Company]'s Customer Support Team. YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that the undersigned customer demands a refund in the amount of $[Amount] for [Product]. BASIS: The product was defective and the company has failed to provide a remedy. EVIDENCE: See attached. DEADLINE: A response is required within 5 business days. FAILURE TO RESPOND may result in: (a) A credit card chargeback. (b) A Better Business Bureau complaint. (c) A negative review on Trustpilot. Signed, [Customer]. The legal formatting caught their attention. They replied: "We have reviewed your notice and have decided to settle this matter by issuing a full refund. Please consider the case closed." Legal formatting makes companies think you are willing to escalate. Even if your document has no legal standing, the mere appearance of legal action motivates them.
